The main instrument of the observatory is a UV telescope\u2013spectrometer with a main mirror diameter of 800 mm. The goal is to study the spectra of stars, nebulae and galaxies up to magnitude 15 in the ultraviolet (1100&#8230;3500 \u00c5) and X-ray wavelength ranges.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\">The <strong>ASTRON<\/strong> spacecraft was created at the <strong>Lavochkin Research and Production Association (Moscow)<\/strong> on the basis of the Venera-15 automatic interplanetary station.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\"><strong>The optics of the Spika telescope<\/strong> were developed and manufactured at CrAO, under the leadership of Doctor of Physics and Mathematics N.V. Steshenko,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\"><strong>The design of the telescope<\/strong> was developed and manufactured at the NPO named after. Lavochkin, under the guidance of Ph.D. A.A. This is a record among Soviet unmanned spacecraft.
